"Engaging in Democracy: EU, E-Democracy, and Social Media"

The fifth event took place in one of our branch offices on the 6 th of November 2024. The purpose of the event was to inform about the project and the European Union, and to improve the participants’ knowledge about e-democracy tools. Additionally, there was a review about the process of the 2024 European Parliament Elections and their importance. Furthermore, the purpose was to raise awareness of the role of social media and fake news in democratic processes. Participants were encouraged to actively participate in democratic processes and share the common European
values.


The following topics were covered:
Overview of the EU
Inputs on “what does active citizenship means to you” and “what role plays
social media”
Importance of EU-elections and participatory tools
Create awareness for EU-topics and e-democracy
The role of social media and fake news concerning democracy
