The fourth event in our initiative was held on June 13th, 2023, at Ballinagh Community Centre, Cavan, with 40 participants attending from 11:00 AM to 07:00 PM. This gathering aimed to connect young and senior citizens, fostering active participation in the civic and democratic life of the European Union.
The event focused on empowering local communities by raising awareness about EU strategies for a greener economy and promoting sustainable development initiatives. It emphasized inclusivity, ensuring that individuals of all ages had opportunities to contribute to and benefit from efforts toward sustainability and democratic engagement. Guest speaker Michelle Gildernew, TD (MP), joined the event, offering valuable insights into these critical topics.
Discussions covered key themes, including civic and democratic engagement, effective ways to raise voices to public institutions, and fostering intergenerational collaboration. Participants also explored EU strategies for achieving a greener economy and practical steps to implement sustainable initiatives in their communities.
