The second event of our initiative was held at the Cavan Crystal Hotel, Ireland, bringing together 41 participants for a full day of discussions focused on EU democracy and active citizenship. The event aimed to connect young and senior citizens through meaningful dialogue, enhancing their understanding of the European Union and encouraging their engagement in democratic processes.
A key focus was introducing participants to e-democracy tools, empowering them to actively shape their communities and inspiring their participation in the 2024 EU Parliament elections. Guest speaker Maria Walsh, MEP, joined the event via Zoom, offering valuable insights into the EU’s democratic structures and the importance of civic involvement.
Discussions covered essential topics such as understanding the EU, the role of democracy within the EU, and practical ways to engage using e-democracy tools. Participants also explored intergenerational perspectives on democracy, enriching the dialogue with diverse viewpoints.
This event provided an opportunity for citizens to build their knowledge, foster connections, and take steps toward becoming more active and informed participants in Europe’s democratic future.
